The Quarantine Film Festival is an initiative by We Are Films in NYC to encourage creatives around the world to stay creative, stay active, and stay safe while in quarantine. All videos below were made 100% in quarantine with only the people they are quarantining with. More information can be found here.

MONSTER
Awarded: Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Editing

Shot at home, just me and the family, with COVID-19 messing around, and a little short film competition, decided to shoot something with the kids, Although we all end up in front of camera (how do I hate that!?). We were shooting at night (only 4 hours a days) and preparing the shoots during the day. Something with the intention to be fun, I think at then end everybody was a bit tired of it !! jejeje. We were all cast and crew, kind of fun to have a 13 year old girl as a focus puller when she is not in the shot ! And a great 12 year old grip, also when he doesn't need to act !! At the end we got a little piece to remember these strange days we are living... take care and be safe.

LOOPY
Awarded: Audience Choice

Short film made during the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic. Just two dudes and a camera. Written & Directed by Max Cianci & Anthony Peduzzi

Drawn to a mysterious window, a man decides to investigate a seemingly abandoned building. Once inside, he discovers a series of trails that hint that he may not be alone. As he makes his way to the source of his curiosity, what he uncovers is worse than he could ever imagine.

FADE TO BLACK
Awarded: Best Performance

A son gets an unexpected call that challenges the distance between him and his father. 'Fade To Black' - a spiritual sequel/continuation of our award-winning short, 'Fade To Grey, In this time of distance and uncertainty, it's important to stay inspired, creative, and come together and collaborate as best we can. In quarantine and isolation, we decided to collaborate and put together this project. Written and produced from one house, shot and directed from another hundreds of miles away. Scored by our composer another hundreds of miles away from that. And voice-acted even further away from multiple other actors. The challenge of distance is real and difficult, just as these isolating times are - but another obstacle that, when overcome, shows us all just how essential our connection is. Together nothing is impossible. Stay safe, stay strong. Together we all get through this. THE LAST LEG
Awarded: Best Production Design + Best Costume Design

Cabin fever sets in for a couple competing over their last chicken leg. With so many people sheltering-in-place (filmmakers included), we wanted to use this time to make and share something positive. We have a camera, some cats, and a viking hall (a set from a past short still up in our garage), so we went to work. With only ourselves to operate the camera, costumed-mannequins took our place in some shots, and an unbalanced jib had to “operate” for any moving two-shots. With some powdered sugar on a miniature cabin, we finished “The Last Leg”, and hope you enjoy!
